Please please don’t think that a dashboard or tool is going to break silos – they aren’t. Leaders need to start to look at the social architecture of their organizations – people, process and structure. The silo challenge comes from the old manufacturing construct that we have been living in for the past 4 decades, one that is NOT fit for the information age. Connecting insights across the organization will unlock the amazing potential of Big data and build heightened levels of organizational understanding. This is a people challenge – not a technology one.

It’s only when data between sources is connected (perhaps correlated) that it’s not a silo. Simply having data separate data sources visualised doesn’t mean you’ve solved a data silo problem.
